 Mission Statement
 To bring art and color
 to  East County;
 To show art in the natural state;
 To weave art through the environment;
 To create a community of art in Alpine;
 To bring together diverse organizations
 and people
 to work for the common joy of the whole.
 This is our mission statement.
 Now, let's play.

  Harmonious LandAlpine is situated in a land of perfect balance; in a mesa between the city of San Diego to the West, and the Cuyamaca Mountains to the East.
 The Kumeyaay, who have lived in California for ten of thousands of years,
 called this town; this mesa, where Alpine is now prospers,
 "Mata-qu-qual", or Mother of Life,
 as this land was rich and fertile and soil and water freely ran through it.
 More recent settlers, coming for the promise of restored health,
 called it "Land of Healing Climate",
 and a government report of the 1850's backed up that claim.

  The Association
 Alpine Artists Association was founded over a half-century ago by
 Clarence Stearns, of Zumbrota Minnesota.
 Clarence Stearns, an avid photographer, studio owner
 and friend of George Eastman of Eastman Kodak fame,
 created a roundtable of art and artists in the town,
 built one of the first houses on Viejas Mountain,
 and established a history of bringing fine art, world experience and expert craftmanship with him.

  Alpine Artists, Today
 Today, the Alpine Artists Association,
 comprised of over sixty local artists,
 ranging in art forms from the Written Word,
 to oils, to the subtle pauses in between a musical note,
 continues in the rich tradition of inviting and welcoming traveling artists,
 nurturing and celebrating local art
 and creating events to scintillate the senses and color the streets and lands of the East County.

 The Invitation
 Alpine Artists Association welcomes visitors to experience "the Land of Healing Climate" and locals to celebrate this home, "the Mother of Life".

 Please see our Calendar for planned events,
 or drop us a line, we'll be proud to show you around the town.
