Dealing with Smoke and Ash after a FireStorm
san diego wildfire images 2003 2007

We've just experienced another firestorm. One week of fires, one week of stress, one week of ashes= one need to boost up lung strength.

The following has been very helpful to us in San Diego:

1. Use HEPA air cleaners/filters, if you can, one in every room. If you can't, then use one HEPA air cleaner in the heaviest used rooms.

2. Diffuse
Purification in glass bowl or diffuser in each room of house to clear smell of smoke.

3. If you go outside to clean ash or walk about when there is smoke and ash in the air, use an N-95 face mask with a dab of Purification in it, or R.C. and gloves on your hands. Toss ash in sealed garbage bag.

4. Place screening filters over air/heating vents throughout home.

5. Use Lavender, Eucalyptus essential oils in kitchen and bath to calm your and your family's nerves, also in glass bowls or diffusers.

6. Get yourself some Bach Rescue Remedy (see above)--Watching fire, escaping from fire, evacuations are all very stressful. Know you have done a good job, be gentle with youself, and use some Rescue Remedy.

7. Get out of the smoke and ash, if you can, and leave the fire-ravaged area. Get clean, good air, then, when the ash has settled, come back and clean up.

Before you evacuate, make sure your windows and doors are closed to minimize ash and to minimize chance of errant embers entering your home. When you leave to get fresh air--also make sure your windows are all closed to minimize any further ash creeping into your home. Ash will creep, no matter what--don't fool yourself. Be prepared to vaccuum when you return, with a HEPA filter vaccuum and to scrub counters and windowsills with non-toxic lavender cleaners like Lifetree.

8. Drink lots and lots of water to help lungs clear toxins and soot.

Natural Care for the Fujian A/H3 Flu.

Well, it would be nice if we could avoid it, but it can pop up anywhere. Even if you get the latest flu shot, it probably does not cover this flu specifically, just some of the symptoms.

Be prepared and have some of these products/ingredients on hand:
Bioflavenoids by Nature's Answer with Rose Hips.
High concentration of Vitamin C via citrus and rosehips--the valiant crusader against the Black Plague in medieval times.
Use this when you know the flu is with you, it may either stave it away, or shorten your time with it, depending on the strength of your own immunity. Very Powerful.

If you have trouble with kidneys, or are pregnant, you may not be able to excrete high doses of Vitamin C, please check with your health professional before using.

Please note that this product is preserved with alcohol.
When using for children, serve Bioflavonoid with an herbal tea, such as organic peppermint or organic chamomile.
Pour Bioflavonoid in with hot water and teabag.
Allow to steep and alcohol to evaporate. When cool enough to drink, give to child.

If you are breastfeeding, feed it to your child through your own breastmilk. Take only a few drops in warm tea, and it will pass through naturally. Your immunity is heightened right now, anyway. Nature and mothers are awe-inspiring.

Tea Tree Essential Oil otherwise known as Melaleuca Alternifola.
Keeps your sinuses open. Dab one drop on outside of nose. Remember to do this before bedtime as well.
    Naturade Herbal Expectorant
If there is congestion in your lungs, drink a teaspoon of Herbal Expectorant to bring mucous out before it settles and becomes serious.

If you are pregnant, check with your o.b., they know what is safe for the littlest one within you.

R.C., Lavender, or Eucalyptus Essential oils.
When sick with cold or flu, rub any of these oils on chest, throat, neck or back. Dilute with a little carrier oil such as jojoba or olive. If you have none of these oils in your cabinet, use Vicks Vaporub in a pinch, on throat, chest and back to help open up the air passages.

If pregnant, check with your doctor.

    Purification Essential Oil
Diffuse this powerful anti-viral oil into the air. Put on cotton ball and place in air vents or use diffuser. This works well with aiding in prevention of re-infection.
Avoid coffee, dairy, sugary foods, fats, and carbonated drinks. . .
if you already have the flu.
Why? Think of how hard your body works to process these foods. Your body needs all that strength to fight off the virus. Give it the chance.
Drink lots of water. WATER, water, water. No other liquid works as well to hydrate your body and flush out the illness.
Hydrogen Peroxide Treatment for the Flu?
Read what Mercola.Com says about hydrogen peroxide and the new nasal-spray vaccine called FluMist.
    Wash hands frequently.
    Brush with soap under fingernails.
    When in a public restroom--
Use your elbow to bring down paper towels from push-down dispenser.
Keep your paper towel with you, instead of throwing it away, and use it to open the bathroom door.
    Alkalize your body.
How to do? Eat fresh raw vegetables, avoid sweets, miminize meats, drink a tablespoon of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar.
To find Bragg's, go to The Vitamin Shoppe, and type in Bragg.
    An apple a day?
Consider boosting the strength of your excretory organs. Keep hydrated and start adding apple pectin to your smoothies or swallowing in capsule-form. Apple pectin safely and gently helps to clean out the liver. Find Natural Factors Apple Pectin at The Vitamin Shoppe, or, go to your grocery store, look for the jam canning section, and grab a box of Ball Apple Pectin.
An organic apple a day does help keep the doctor away.
